ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Zach Fucales teammates on Canadas world junior team can tell when hes comfortable between the pipes. They can hear it.Hes always yapping, hes always talking to guys, Connor McDavid said. He never shuts up on the ice.Fucale has the kind of relaxed personality that makes him well-suited for a goaltending competition with Eric Comrie ahead of the world junior championships. But its also a good attitude to have after reports surfaced that the 19-year-old will be traded from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey Leagues Halifax Mooseheads to the Quebec Remparts once the tournament is over.I cant control those things, whats happening back there, the Rosemere, Que., native said Wednesday. Im right here, right now with Team Canada and Im with a great group of guys, great staff here. Im not worried about that and Im just focused on helping this team.Fucale and Comrie were the only goaltenders Hockey Canada brought to its world junior selection camp this week, and coach Benoit Groulx has called it an open competition between them. Somehow that hasnt bothered Fucale, even though he was the No. 1 goalie on last years team.Me and Coms, we have the same goal in mind and thats to win, Fucale said. Whoevers in there, were going to help the team win as much as we can, and thats all we can do. I feel comfortable in the net and so does Coms.Groulx, who coaches the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, said he likes Fucales competitiveness. Groulx noted Fucale played 58 games as a 16-year-old and then helped Halifax win the 2013 Memorial Cup.Hes been through many big games in his career, Groulx said. I think that he carries that confidence with him. He competes hard.Fucale will start in goal for Canada on Friday night in its first international game, an exhibition against Russia at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Thats a nod to his past success and his status as the front-runner in the goalie competition. In 24 QMJHL games this season, Fucale is 13-11 with a 3.20 goals-against average and .890 save percentage. But those numbers are due in part to the Mooseheads rebuilding group.Theres a lot of things that influence stats and a lot of things happen. Im not worried about it, Fucale said. I know, my teammates know and my goalie coach and I have been working hard. I feel Im doing very good things on and off the ice. Those things will pay off.Groulx pointed to Halifaxs bad start and a barrage of injuries as reasons for Fucales numbers dropping off. He also knows another season in the same junior league can take a toll. When its your fourth year in the league and youve been playing with three solid teams and then youve to come back for a fourth one, sometimes its tough to start the engine, Groulx said. But I thought he got better in November. He had an outstanding game against Russia at the Subway Series. I think he feels good about himself now. Hes mentally ready. Thats what hes showing us on the ice.Fucale brushed off talk about being traded, reports that came out of Quebec on Wednesday. He cant officially be sent to the Remparts, who are loading up for a Memorial Cup run, until January when the world junior tournament is over. That allows him to put trade talk aside for now.Im not focused on that, Fucale said. I cant control what goes on over there. Im just concentrating on helping this team win.Groulx wants Fucale to be himself in net, especially if that means chirping to stay on his game. One thing hes not worried about is the trade distracting Fucale. With the experience hes got, I dont think hell look further ahead, Groulx said. If that part is true, hes going to the Memorial Cup again. Its not a bad thing for him. I really feel that right now I dont see anyone here having his focus anywhere else than with this team.Note — Groulx said McDavid, forward Nic Petan and defenceman Joe Hicketts would not play against Russia. Thats an indication their spots on the 22-man roster are safe.---Follow @SWhyno on Twitter Christian McCaffrey Jersey .com) - The Milwaukee Bucks will try to get another win on this homestand Thursday night when they welcome the Utah Jazz to the Bradley Center. Two home wins, against Aston Villa on Wednesday and West Ham on Sunday, separate City from a second championship in three years after coming from behind to win at Goodison Park -- a stadium where it has traditionally struggled with just one victory from its last 15 visits. Sergio Agueros goal cancelled out Ross Barkleys brilliant 11th-minute opener for Everton, then Edin Dzeko scored twice in a five-minute span bridging halftime to help City go top -- for a day at least -- on goal difference from Liverpool, and two points clear of Chelsea. All three teams have two games left, with Chelsea playing Norwich on Sunday and Liverpool at Crystal Palace on Monday. "Three points is a huge step for us," City manager Manuel Pellegrini said. "Its a decisive moment, but we havent finished yet." Aguero gave City a scare by limping off in the 28th minute -- soon after scoring his equalizer -- but said on Twitter that he came off as a precaution and he was "fine." Evertons defeat dealt a major blow to the title hopes of neighbour Liverpool, and ensured Arsenal clinched fourth spot and Champions League qualification for the 17th straight season. Resurgent Sunderlands surprise 1-0 win at Manchester United pulled the team three points clear of third-from-bottom Norwich, gave interim United manager Ryan Giggs a reality check, and also consigned Fulham and Cardiff to the second tier. Fulham lost 4-1 at Stoke, and Cardiff was defeated 3-0 at Newcastle, leaving both sides unable to climb out of the relegation zone. "I have to apologize for not managing the situation. The club asked me to come -- I tried," said Fulham manager Felix Magath, who was hired in February in an attempt to keep the club in the top division for a 14th straight season. "You can never say any player would like to see relegation, but they didnt fight enough, especiially today.dddddddddddd" Cardiff goes down after spending just one year in the Premier League, having also changed managers midway through the season in a bid to prevent the drop. "I knew what I was coming into," Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. "I didnt make the impact I hoped for and I believed in." Sunderland has taken seven points from trips to Man City, Chelsea and United in the past three weeks, with Sebastian Larssons 30th-minute goal clinching a first league victory at Old Trafford since 1968. United turned in a performance reminiscent of David Moyes woeful 10-month tenure that was brought to an end last month, puncturing the optimism created by the teams 4-0 win over Norwich last Saturday in Giggs first match in interim control. "I feel flat," Giggs said. "The players were flat and I dont know why. . We were putting five- or 10-yard passes astray and if you do that in the Premier League you get punished. Weve had a problem at home all season -- its not been good enough." Already out of contention to qualify for the Champions League, United is also struggling to make the Europa League as it is six points behind sixth-place Tottenham, which lost 2-0 at West Ham. Spurs went down to 10 men in the 25th minute when Younes Kaboul was given a straight red card for a professional foul, before an own goal by Harry Kane and Stewart Downings free kick secured a victory that preserved West Hams Premier League status for another season. Aston Villa moved six points clear of Norwich after beating Hull 3-1 thanks to Ashley Westwoods goal after 58 seconds and a pair of headers from Andreas Weimann just before halftime. Hull, a point behind Villa, was also unlikely to be hauled in by Norwich but its three-game winless run bodes ill for the FA Cup final against Arsenal on May 17. Regardless of that result, however, Hull will get the Europa League spot offered by the FA Cup courtesy of Arsenal securing fourth place in the league. Southampton beat Swansea 1-0 away thanks to Rickie Lamberts injury-time goal.
